The author of this blog is currently away on important business. She will return when she's finished watching all 4 seasons of LOST, which she had never watched before and just discovered on abc.com, where they have full episodes for people like me who never got on the LOST boat when it set sail and wanted to know what the big deal really was and now finds herself addicted and watching it whenever she can.

New Knight Rider

Did you see the new Knight Rider premiere on Sunday? For your sake, I hope not. Hubby and I just *had* to watch it, since the original was way cool (ok, it was the 80's) and we like any opportunity to poke fun at The Hoff, who had a brief cameo appearance in the last 10 minutes....but it was worse than expected. As in, no one could act, the scenes seemed written by a juvenile, the storyline had too many cheesy moments, the lead actor seemed like an immature 18-yr old frat boy instead of an ex-military man, and worst of all, KITT's voice was monotone and extremely lame. And as cheesy as David Hasselhoff is, surprisingly he was an improvement in the show. Suffice it to say, this show will NOT be on my DVR list. (Oh wait, I don't have DVR yet...urgh)

Jane Austen fans, rejoice!

Finally, something excellent on television! PBS has the complete Jane Austen series on Masterpiece Theatre for the next couple months. It began w/ Persuasion this past Sunday. Did you see it? If you are even a mild fan of Austen, these movie adaptations of her books are well worth your time. Persuansion was very intense and passionate, the actors were superb, even the music was great. My only criticism was that it was too short and rushed, but still it is now a new fave of mine. (And come on, this new Captain Wentworth is not bad to look at!) Nothing can take away from my love of the Ciaran Hind version though, which is by far the best adaptation, but surprisingly this new one is almost as good, though quite different. Thank you, Masterpiece Theatre, for bringing us more Austen and hopefully introducing more people to her works.

Any 'Pushing Daisies' fans out there?

I was flipping channels last night and landed on ABC just in time to see the start of "Pushing Daisies" and I was completely sucked into this show in less than 5 minutes. I had never heard of it before, but it was so weird, so unique, so something-I-couldn't-put-my-finger-on, that I couldn't stop watching. I have to know more about it! The premise is insane, but that's apparently what makes it charming. It has a narrator for crying outloud. The last show I watched w/ a narrator was that stupid Brendan Fraser movie, George of the Jungle, and I only watched 14 seconds before turning it off in disgust. But it works in this show. No, it makes this show. Plus Anna Friel from "Our Mutual Friend" stars.

For a girl who's into dramas and mysteries almost exclusively (did you see SVU this week? Emmy-worthy performances!) and who disliked comedies like "Everybody loves Raymond" that everybody else worshipped, I've been drawn to these goofy shows lately and I'm not sure why. I'm also a huge fan of Chuck, possibly b/c his geeky side reminds me of someone who shall remain nameless but also resides in this house. The acting is so-so and the stories outrageous, but somehow I am drawn to it. And now having discovered Pushing Daisies, I must see more of it! And bless you, abc.com, for having all episodes online.

Happy Friday! It's a good day...

1. Two of my fave shows return tonight....Monk & Psych. Can't wait!
2. My daughter found the bag of apples and took a bite out of 3 of them before I caught her. I hope her sneaky habits continue to be this healthy.
3. I took the day off for no good reason.
4. I got a couple good hours of sleep last night, in between tossing and turning like a crazy woman. But hey, I'll take the 2 good hours and be happy.
5. Hubby and I have a date night tonight, so we'll actually get to talk and look each other in the eye. :) No, we aren't fighting! He was gone til Thursday, and we've barely had time to speak since then.
6. I also took Monday off so I can...ummm...do nothing. :)

Happy weekend! When I get news about my Dad, I'll post on his progress. Thanks for all your prayers!

***Update: Dad came thru surgery just fine and is recovering nicely. (He was hungry, so that's a good sign!) Dr. said the ball of his hip was very loose and the culprit of his pain, so they replaced it and tightened everything up. Sounds like a car tune-up, doesn't it? :) It's amazing what modern science can do, and I'm thankful for the abilities God has given doctors. He should be able to go home on Monday. Thank you, Lord, for watching over this whole process!    

The Office season finale

I missed it last night but caught it online today. LOVED IT!!!!!! Woohoo, Jim and Pam have a date! 'Bout time!

Hubby and I completely spaced watching Heroes last night, so I've gotta watch it online now before someone tells me what happens and ruins the suspense for me. The last 2 episodes have been really good, and I'm dying to know more. I loved the whole Sylar-in-the-White-House segment. Really had me going.....

Love is in the air!

Happy Valentine's Day!We're still snowed in after 24 hours of snow. It stopped snowing sometime after midnight, and today the winds have finally died down. Hubby was able to get the Jeep out this morning, but when he got to work, the parking lot had not been plowed, he nearly got stuck in a drift, and the office complex was closed anyhow. We had 17 inches of snow in our yard, along w/ some major drifts. It's very pretty out there!

In the spirit of Valentine's, I am watching North & South, a wonderful BBC drama/romance. The story is splendid, and the ending I have watched over and over. When you see it, you will know why! It's 4 hours long, but well worth your time.

American Idol judges are stranger than normal

Is it just my imagination, or are the judges completely whacked out so far this season? I kept thinking as I watched this week, are they drunk? are they on drugs? is this a joke? b/c they didn't seem to be taking it seriously at all. And maybe they don't care to take it seriously, but something is OFF so far this season and it's annoying to watch. Check out this interview Paula did a while back...it reminds me of how she was acting the other night on AI. Apparently it's not just my imagination...

And I was happy to see Chris Sligh made it thru to the next Idol round. He can sing AND he's a character. Check out his blog... (Mel, he's a former BJU student...weird, eh? Sounds like he's done pretty well for getting kicked out for listening to rock music!)
