I'm not much of a soaps girl these days, but the first summer we stayed w/our cousin in Indiana (who was allowed to watch pretty much anything on television), and our parents weren't around to say no, we were introduced to the wonderful world of Days of Our Lives. It was 1988, and the best story going that summer was the wedding of Steve (aka, "Patch") and Kayla. It was pure magic. Well, that and a little bad acting thrown in, but it felt magical to this 12 year old girl. I can still remember us girls sitting on the living room floor in front of the huge console tv, eating grape nuts cereal (why? I don't know--what a strange thing to remember!) and holding our breath as Steve & Kayla said their vows on that boat. Wasn't Kayla in some accident and had amnesia and couldn't speak until her wedding day...or something like that? :) Great memories!
