My, my, my, for the very first time I waved goodbye, bye, bye To what used to weight me down My, my, my everything's alright The sun is shining down I'm looking all around And this is just so beautiful
If You could make the sun burn through the night And You could make the dead man come alive If You could make the oceans all run dry Then I know You can change my life
The guys from Vintage Trouble are so much fun to listen to, and I love their video sampler. A great old rock-n-roll w/ some blues thrown in kind of sound. "Still and Always Will" is awesome. Also check them out on NoiseTrade.
I was an overnight David Ramirez fan when I first heard his song "Shoeboxes" a couple months ago. Then I fell in love with "Fires." Brilliant songwriting. You should definitely give him a listen, especially since he has a FREE live album download right now.
After seeing the Hunger Games movie, I've been in a Lenny Kravitz mood. Lenny played the stylist for District 12 named Cinna. He was my least fave character in the movie, mostly b/c they didn't build up their friendship at all and he barely had any lines, but I'm hopeful he will be more prominent in the 2nd movie, and he will have some depth... Anyhow, Kravitz has made such diverse music over his career. There's some I don't like, but some I really do. Here's one I like. Good ol' rock-n-roll.
My Sister's choir in Indy sings some amazing pieces, and I was blessed again to hear them on Sunday for their spring concert, Abiding Mercy: Lenten music of consolation. Worship bands are still my fave for Sunday morning worship, but I enjoy hearing a big choir, too. Very powerful form of worship, and still relevant. They performed this piece, which is just one part of a larger work called, "Mass of the Children." Much of it was in Latin, but my favorite part was in English. What a beautiful prayer!
Lord, open thou mine eyes that I may see thee; Lord, open thou my lips that I may praise thee; Lord, open thou my heart that I may love thee, Serve thee with joy, fear none above thee. Christ be my sword and shield, my strong defender; Christ be my light and my Redeemer. Lord, be with me this day in each endeavor; Lord, keep my soul with thee now and forever.
Here is another choir in Spain performing the same piece. This video is long, but my fave part is at the beginning, the first 4 minutes.
