Silly Sentences

I found this Very Silly Sentences game at TJ Maxx the other day and knew the kids would love it. You go around the board, collecting parts-of-speech-cards and see who can build their silly sentences first. Sounds like something a dorky English major came up w/ to trick kids into learning the parts of speech, right? Hey, watch it--I was an English major! But yes, it's a tricky way to teach while kids are having fun and don't realize you're pouring knowledge into their little brains. They LOVED it and beg to play again and again. It's a win-win. :)

Here are the sentences we made. The kids took pics and asked me to blog them b/c they were proud of their work...er, I mean, their game.

I happened upon this site yesterday (thanks to a lead from a very cool blog!) that sells the cutest socks ever--LittleMissMatched. And by cutest socks ever I mean polka dots, stripes, stars, geometric patterns, and all manner of coolness to cover your toes. But here is the kicker--they do not sell them in pairs; they sell them as mis-matched sets. Be still my beating heart! Grace never wears matching socks if she can help it, so I almost fainted when I saw these cute sets. :) And yes, I caved and ordered her some, perhaps for her birthday in a few months, b/c they have a free shipping promotion right now plus some good clearance. Thank you, LittleMissMatched, for being so cool! I'm just sorry I didn't think of the idea before you did!

P.S. They also carry adorable clothing, flip-flops, leg warmers, arm warmers (whatever the heck those are!), bedding, and accessories. I cannot wait to flip thru their catalog w/ a bright-eyed Grace. :)
