My stomach literally hurt from laughing so hard after watching this parody of Downton Abbey, entitled Downton Arby's. If you loved the original, you must see this! Poor Lady Edith and that straw! :) Oh my word...still laughing. "Sybil, put down those curly fries!"
And if you loved Disney's movie Tangled, then you will love Tangled Ever After, the story of their wedding. It's well-worth the 6 1/2 minutes. We saw it in 3D at the theatre, and it was awesome!
I should probably be more excited about this trailer than I actually am. After all, the 1st teaser trailer was all of 15 seconds, and this one is 3 times as long. But I do feel jipped b/c you barely see ANYTHING! It's the same shots as the 15 second one w/ some more trees thrown in. And that poor little deer! HA! Oh well, it's something. They have to string us along w/ little bits of footage for the next 234 days, and come on, it's not as if I'm gonna protest and NOT watch it. I'll take all the Twilight I can get! At least we got to see some werewolf goodness! :)
I really like this writer's perspective of the new film based on Donald Miller's Book Blue Like Jazz, and how mainstream movements shy away from anything remotely controversial. Like the author, I am not a Christian-movie-goer....meaning, I don't enjoy the "Christian movie" genre. I have not seen films like Fireproof or Courageous and I'm not bashing either of those by saying that. Most of my friends love them, but they are just not for me. (I know this is a hot button, so I'm hitting it quickly and moving on...)
Blue Like Jazz inspired me as a book b/c it was real and muddy and not all-tied-up-in-a-pretty-little-bow at the end. Sure, it was irreverent, sometimes questionable, and raised eyebrows more than once, but it stopped me in my tracks b/c I related so much. And maybe that's the issue...people don't want to admit they relate to someone who doesn't have it all together. I, for one, find it refreshing. And I suspect the movie will refresh and inspire lots of people. I say YAY to anyone being real about life and real about faith.
Last week Hubby decided it was time for me to have a proper vampire education, so he sat me down and we watched 2 classic vamp flicks--The Lost Boys and Interview with the Vampire. (Don't judge me that I had not seen either of these films until 2012. I grew up in a convent...Ok, not really...but close.) Now I have nothing against Kiefer Sutherland or Brad Pitt--both have had admirable acting careers, but as vampires, they really sucked (pun totally intended). Besides the cheesy fangs and the overall horribleness of these vamp stories, honestly, I just couldn't take them seriously b/c they didn't sparkle. At all. Perhaps Stephanie Meyers has tainted an entire legend and ruined a generation of vampire-movie-watchers like me, but in my mind...
...and Hubby rolls his eyes. :)
We also watched Flatliners, to complete my I-can't-believe-you-haven't-seen-this-movie education. Interesting. Breakfast Club is next...
Just 2 more days until the DVD release of Breaking Dawn Part 1!!!! It wasn't enough to see it in theaters 3 times--I gotta own it and watch my fave scenes over and over like an obsessed teenager. :) Target stores all over are having midnight release parties, and this fan cannot go. :( Hubby and Jacob have a Boy Scout lock-in, and somehow me dragging 2 sleepy kids to Target at midnight seems like a recipe for disaster. Anyone wanna come babysit? HA!
And lest there is any confusion about where my loyalties lie...
Here is my new iPhone case
And here is my loyalty tshirt
Oh, and last week I was called a "Twilight Mom" by the high school Girl Scout troop that's leading Grace's Daisy troop. We were playing hot potato and needed some music, so I let them use my phone. One of them noticed my phone cover, her eyes got really big, and she said, "Are you a Twilight Mom? That is so cool!" So then we had a long conversation about Breaking Dawn and how her Mom wouldn't let her go opening night just b/c it was a school night. *sigh* I didn't tell her that I was old enough to be her mom or that heck yah!!! I would've let her go if she were my daughter; it was weird enough to be called a "Twilight Mom" in the first place. I'm not old! :)
Woohoo! Abduction comes out on DVD today! It's lonely being the only Taylor fan in my circle of friends, but I'm a true fan and sticking by my werewolf. So no rolling your eyes, Mel! I don't make fun of your stupid, ridiculous, over-the-top vampire obsession, do I? :)
If you haven't read The Hunger Games series of books yet, you need to! The movie version of the first book hits theatres on March 23rd. Books are always, always better than their film counterparts, but this movie looks like it has lots of potential. "May the odds be ever in your favor!"
I had a spontaneous idea yesterday, talked 2 friends into joining me, and took the kiddos to see the Muppets movie after school. It was very well written, funny and entertaining!
It was also Harrison's first full-length movie since he was a baby (the one time we took the whole fam, and he slept thru it!), so his attention span was challenged a bit, even w/ the silliness of the show. Of course, the sugar my friend gave him may have more to do w/ that than the actual length of the movie. He was jumping off the walls by the end, and it was nice that we had the theatre pretty much all to ourselves. :) All in all, it was a good time, and I love matinee prices and coupons--4 tix for just $13.50! Woohoo!
Sis and I watched one of our fave movies, The Man Who Knew Too Little, last week over Thanksgiving break, and now I can't get this line out of my head...."You artsy, fartsy little dweeb!" I still laugh out loud every time I hear that line! Peter Gallagher's character is awesome! And I think it's high time we brought back the word "dweeb", don't you? :)
I'm not ashamed to admit that I cried in the theater when we saw Twilight: Breaking Dawn, Part 1....all three times. (Yes, we saw it every day over our girls' weekend! Woohoo!) I don't know how you could not get teary-eyed in this movie. Then again I cry at commercials sometimes. :) Call it cheesy, sappy, "silly teenage stuff," whatever you want, but I will still say it was beautiful from start to finish.
The instrumental version of this song played at the wedding as Bella walked the aisle, and instantly became my fave part of the entire film. If you've read the books, you know this is the pinnacle. The bride Bella has spent her entire life being unsure of herself and wondering where she fits in (as we all have), and she enters this strange universe w/ her groom-to-be whose world is so alien to her own, and then suddenly she has never felt more alive, more sure of who she's supposed to be. With Edward, Bella becomes her true self. And in this moment, as she walks the aisle full of nerves and wedding jitters, she locks eyes w/ Edward waiting for her at the alter, and never takes her gaze off him. She knows who she is now, with him, because of him. This is marriage....better together, stronger together, complete. :)
