Coupons and sales are everywhere this time of year, and I've made some great buys, so here's a little bragging. 

First I hit up Payless Shoesource. It's not my first choice for boy shoes or tennis shoes, but they usually carry some decent dress shoes for girls. Armed w/ a very cool $15 off of $15 purchase coupon, I got Grace some black patent mary janes, a pair of thick winter girl gloves, and 2 pair of Cars2 gloves for Harrison--all for $4.25! 

I snagged these burnished leather Anne Klein boots that retailed for $109 at 6pm (a very cool online outlet for shoes, clothing, etc.) for just $34.95--with FREE shipping and cash back thru Ebates! If you haven't signed up for Ebates, you should! You get cash back at hundreds of online retailers, all for doing nothing but clicking on a link thru their site. Talk about easy money! (BTW, these boots are great! Nice, bendable leather, very comfy soles, and the heel is a nice height for those of us who have no business wearing stilettos.)

I also found a great Christmas toy deal for Harrison online. (Shhhh, don't tell him!) Usually Amazon is my go-to-place for the best price on toys, but I wasn't impressed w/ their prices on LEGOs. Their cheapest box of LEGO bricks was $25 and it only had 200 or so pieces. Then I found this box of LEGOs at Target--405 pieces for just $20! A similar set was $39.95 on Amazon, so I know I got an excellent deal! Plus cash back from Ebates, of course...

A couple days later I found these cute Sketchers on clearance for an unbelievable $21.00 at 6pm, also w/ FREE shipping and cash back thru Ebates. These shoes retail for $60, and if you shop shoes very often, you know it's hard to get Sketchers for under $40 period. Even kids Sketchers rarely go on sale for less than $35.00, so I was super excited to find these. Sketchers are super comfy!

But my best deal was definitely at ULTA this week. Armed w/ the regular sales flyer coupon and my loyalty rewards coupon, I bought all of this...

1 glitter nail polish ($6), 1 base coat polish ($6), 1 lipcolor ($8), and 1 lip balm ($6)--a total of $26.00 of product for just $2.68. Seriously. That's 90% off. Just another reason to love ULTA!

I'm a sucker for new Crystal Light flavors anyhow, but Mojito? Appletini? Margarita? I'm all over that! They are limited-edition summer flavors, which means I gotta stop typing and get to Target!

 
 
I saw these fancy tape trios advertised in a magazine and thought they were cute. Would make a nice gift! I'm not really sure what I would use them for, but surely I could come up w/ something. They are almost as cool as the zebra print duct tape that my kids have. Almost.  :)

I love how old stuff becomes new again, don't you? If only I'd kept my leg warmers from 3rd grade....Anyhow, in case you grew up in a world w/o a big plastic phone that plugged into the wall (yes, kids, once upon a time phones had to be plugged into a box in the wall, and no, I'm not kidding), you can now buy a big chunky handset that plugs into your iPhone and works like an old fashioned phone. Seriously. I'd pay the $30  just to be this cool again.

 
Bright, bold, and chunky not your style? You could always go for the ever-popular Banana Handset and embarrass everyone you know, including me.

  
But if you really want to make an impression and show the world you are retro-and-proud-of-it, you should go all out and get the 80's cell phone case for the iPhone. Your phone slips inside this case, lovingly referred to as "the brick" back in the day, and VOILA--you look like one of those rich people on tv shows from 1983. Who could resist such a status symbol?

Fabulous finds

We've found some good deals lately, so here's a little bragging.

 

I've always one of those big stretchy rings that you see everywhere, but usually they are  just too gaudy and scream old-lady-jewelry-box. But I found this one at LaneBryant, on clearance and 50% off the sale price, bringing it down to $4.99. I believe it was destiny. :)

 

I scored this cute necklace at the consignment shop for just $3.75. Makes me love it even more!

 

The kids are outgrowing their bikes, and Harrison is the only child who actually had a bike big enough for him. So Hubby saw this bike advertised for sale (on a local sale site, like Craig's List) and went to look at it for Jacob. But it was too small for our boy w/ the long legs, so he decided to get it for Grace, and she loves it, flames and all. She's usually the princess type, but who wouldn't love this cool Harley bike design. Poor Jacob wasn't too happy that she got it instead of him, but of course we are still looking for his bike. We could not pass up this almost brand new bike in great condition for $40.

Good find!

Look what I found at ULTA today on the clearance table--limited-edition Chocolate Cherries Shower Smoothie, regularly priced $14.99, on clearance for $7.99, and I had a $3.50 coupon. So my total cost for this ginormous bottle of dedacent shower gel = $4.49! Woohoo! Oh and did I mention it smells divine???

 

Deals worth sharing

I've created a new list in the right column over there w/ links to sites that have great deals. Some of these sites have designer items at super discounted prices-- Kenneth Cole shirts at 88% off at Modnique, for example--while others have items in bulk--like an 18 pack of slap bracelets at 13Deals. (I need to go back and reread, but I'm pretty sure there were slap bracelets in Dante's 3rd level of hell....these simply annoy me!) Then there's Groupon which is different from all the rest--they sell group discounts to local places or other websites; for example, they will sell $40 worth of Children's Place clothing for $20, basically giving you half off, and you have a couple months to use your gift code. If you aren't using Groupon, you're missing out!

Some of these sites have daily deals for 24 hours only (nomorerack has daily deals beginning at noon EST every day), while other sales are good until the items are gone. Others are for several days, and some sites just have good deals available all the time. Some even allow you to make an offer on select products. A few sites require you to become a member, like BeyondTheRack, and some do referrals. I can send you a referral to nomorerack, for example, and you'l receive $10 when you sign up! If you like to read, I highly recommend BetterWorldBooks. They sell new or used books, but the used books are the best deal of course, if you don't mind reading a slightly worn book that lived in a library in its former life. And they ship for FREE! I got a Groupon for $10 and bought 3 used books and 1 brand new book. The used books were discarded library books, but I'm not picky. They were in fine condition for reading and passing on to someone else.

I have purchased at least one item from each of these sites and got really good deals and good customer service, or else I would not recommend them. Check 'em out!

I happened upon this site yesterday (thanks to a lead from a very cool blog!) that sells the cutest socks ever--LittleMissMatched. And by cutest socks ever I mean polka dots, stripes, stars, geometric patterns, and all manner of coolness to cover your toes. But here is the kicker--they do not sell them in pairs; they sell them as mis-matched sets. Be still my beating heart! Grace never wears matching socks if she can help it, so I almost fainted when I saw these cute sets. :) And yes, I caved and ordered her some, perhaps for her birthday in a few months, b/c they have a free shipping promotion right now plus some good clearance. Thank you, LittleMissMatched, for being so cool! I'm just sorry I didn't think of the idea before you did!

P.S. They also carry adorable clothing, flip-flops, leg warmers, arm warmers (whatever the heck those are!), bedding, and accessories. I cannot wait to flip thru their catalog w/ a bright-eyed Grace. :)
