Last day of school

I don't have much to say except it's the LAST DAY OF SCHOOL! WOOHOO! (My Man started singing Alice Cooper's School's Out and I nearly barfed!) I'm looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow and all summer long! I'm bummed that Grace's school does not do an official kindergarten graduation ceremony. They are having a small awards program in the classroom, but come on, that doesn't cut it! Jacob had a big graducation ceremony when he was in kindergarten 3 years ago--cap-n-gown, marching in, receiving diplomas--so I was expecting the same for her. Oh well. She picked out her fave dress and her cute little sandals and was happy as could be. She's been gathering the phone numbers of all her friends, so I have a feeling my phone's gonna get a workout this summer with 6-year old chatter. :)

Haircut

For a long time Grace was a serious Rapunzel-wanna-be, and I wanted to cut her hair b/c it was becoming unmanageable. But then suddenly she wanted to cut it all off, and I didn't want to. The mother-daughter conundrum, I believe. So we compromised and cut off about 6 inches. It's very cute, but somehow she looks 8 instead of 6. Boo to this growing up bit. :(

Grace was very proud of herself last night--she read her favorite bedtime story to Mom, instead of the other way around. :) 

MI beaches are beautiful even when it's cold

We were in MI last week w/ my parents over spring break, and of course we were wondering why we usually find ourselves heading NORTH for spring break, but oh well. :) It wasn't too cold and didn't snow, so that's something. We visited our favorite beach--our little piece of heaven every July 4th for fireworks--and found it to be just as beautiful even though it was about 40 degrees. And no, we did not stick our toes in the water. Our lips turned blue just standing next to the water; standing in it did not seem wise. :) I do love my Michigan!

Lost tooth #2

Grace has had a loose tooth for weeks. At least 3 weeks. And she has been super protective of that beloved tooth. She was so excited to have another loose one, yet terrified to have it fall out. She's a big bundle of contradiction!!! It was just barely hanging on all weekend, and I warned her that she was gonna lose it w/o even knowing it and accidentally swallow it, like I did once when I was a kid. But she didn't listen...

...and then it happened while she was munching on some Robin Eggs easter candy. Bye-bye, tooth! She was very upset, so we wrote a note to the Tooth Fairy. I had to write her words b/c she was so emotional. 

And in case you were wondering, the Tooth Fairy did honor her request. I hear she's very understanding about these things. :)

Grace & Harrison are so willing to pose for pictures. In fact, they usually say, "Hey, Mom, take our pic!" instead of me asking. Jacob, on the other hand, disappears whenever there is a camera out. So if it seems like I only have two children, well, my oldest is still here, honest, just missing from photos. :)

Our dog truly loves all of us, but if I had to pick, I would say Grace is his favorite, and it's no surprise why. She will sit and pet him for an hour, just rubbing his ears and talking softly to him. If he can choose, he will choose to be near her. I love it when they pose for pics!
